PUBLIC NOTICE
4/5/2024
We are writing to provide an update regarding the water leak that transpired Thursday morning.
Our crew of operators are continuing to work around the clock to determine the root cause of our water loss. Today, they met with a leak detection specialist referred by Colorado Rural Water Association. The specialist investigated all of the District's most critical spots, including vacant homes and homes with reported high usage. They were not able to find any visible signs of a water leak. We now have every reason to believe that our water loss is due to equipment failure.
Colorado Springs Utilities has hauled in 42,000 gallons of treated, potable water to help us restore services. However, we have received some recent reports of discolored water. When the water in the holding tank drops below a certain level, it stirs up some of the natural sediment that collects at the bottom. If you experience any discoloration in your water, we recommend that you run cold water from a faucet or outdoor fixture for several minutes until it runs clear. This will help clear out any sediment or debris that may have entered the system.
During this critical time, we would like to kindly request the community's help in conserving water. We are asking that you use your water sparingly and only for essential needs. Please also let us know, right away, if you discover any signs of a leak near or within your home.
We appreciate your patience and will continue to keep you informed as updates become available. If you have an emergency, or require immediate assistance, please contact our Water Operator Tim Harper at (303) 927-9205.
Respectfully,
Florissant Water & Sanitation District
